How to Keep Cords Out of Sight

It seems like I need to charge everything in my life right now! It’s so great to have these amazing devices at my fingertips, but the cords can be a real drag. And I know it’s not just me, because a lot of my clients get frustrated with cord clutter and never knowing where their devices are charging!

The good news is that the solution to cord clutter can be as simple and inexpensive as it is elegant. It’s surprisingly easy to organize cords for all those electronics that are more essential than ever.

That solution? Cable clips. They hold your cords for you so that they’re always there, in the same place, when you need them without cluttering up your surfaces. Here’s how to use them for best results.

  1. Identify what you want to charge and where. I don’t charge my phone in my bedroom as part of my strategy to get better sleep and read more actual books, but I do charge my Kindle there because that’s where I read it! When it’s plugged in, it looks fine, but I like to keep it in my drawer and then the black cord is just kind of… hanging out.

  2. Position the device where you want it to sit while charging and look for where you can hide the cord and the cable clip. For me, it was pretty easy to hide everything on the back side of my night stand. If you’re dealing with a more open space, try snaking your cord behind a table leg.

  3. Affix the cable clip just out of the way, so that the end of the cord is still accessible. I stuck the cable clip on the back of my night stand, and you can only see it when you look directly down on it from above. From the front, everything is clean and tidy.

I got my cable clips from Blue Key World on Amazon. They stick well to furniture and hold the cables securely - which is all you really need from a cable clip!

What other solutions have you used for organizing electronics?
