Weekly Peek

Renovation is finally finished!

About a year and a half ago, we embarked on a small-scale home renovation project to update our kitchen and master bathroom, replacing appliances, fixtures, and surfaces.  The very last piece of work, replacement of fixtures and associated retiling in our guest bathroom, was trailing because there's so much construction in SF that our contractor couldn't fit us into his schedule.  Finally, this past week, he was able to get in and finish up, and I'm very happy with the results!

A reason to get to the airport early

My husband likes to get to the airport really early.  Like, if he had his way, he'd give himself a solid 2 hours to hang out, eat, and get some work done between security and boarding.  I always found this kind of a drag when that meant we were moving around the terminal or sitting in the United lounge which, no matter where you are in the US, features the same depressing and meager snack options.  But now, with the advent of the AmEx Centurion Lounge (first opened in Las Vegas and now at SFO Terminal 3), I totally don't mind.  Sure, I'll hang out on a comfy couch with free fast wifi, free high-end food, free wine tasting, and free beverages of all kinds including handmade cocktails!  You can get into the Centurion Lounge free with an American Express platinum or black card, or pay $50 for a day pass if you have another kind of AmEx card.

Return to Thacher

This past weekend, we attended my 15th high school reunion - yikes and a half that I'm old enough for that!  It was fun to catch up with my classmates and check out the campus.  I was incredibly lucky to be able to attend The Thacher School, and I carry my experience with me wherever I go.

Sunbathing Pups

While my husband and I attended the reunion, we dropped Petunia off with my parents in Santa Barbara.  She was thoroughly spoiled, enjoying the run of their fenced backyard (such luxury for a city dog!) and plentiful sunshine.  She and my parents dog, Eloise, who is a rescue but appears to be a miniature basset hound, get along famously and played and cuddled all weekend.
